The birth of Making Faces

It was the lure of those colourful pots of paints that first pulled me into the world of face-painting. I used to look through those first face-painting books in awe - how I wished I could paint like that...

So fifteen years ago I bought those books. I also bought the paints and the brushes and then I started painting. My five sons became my ever ready canvases - though I have to admit, I still cringe with embarrassment when I look back at my first attempts!

Over the following few years my lust for face painting, fashion and theatrical make-up continued. I studied all the different aspects of make-up and I also learnt how to teach;consequently 'Making Faces' - the freelance make-up artist was born.

These days however, the rain and the cold of England has been left behind and the business now operates from a land that winter forgets; namely Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Gone is the face painting kiosk on Bognor Regis seafront where children relentlessly dragged their parents - now my face painting venues tend to have a more exotic look to them!

All these years down the line and I still feel passionate about painting faces. Those little pots of paint still hold that same fascination for me - so much so that I now sell the products myself.

As for the courses, demonstrations and workshops in theatrical and fashion make-up; well, they are simply a natural progression in the growth of the business!
